Nick and I had moved to pennsylvania back in 2010, leaving our apartments and jobs to set off into a new adventure. I found myself a job in the little biker town of New Hope, selling knives, swords, black powder guns, jewelry, armor and random antiquities. Something completely new for me. I worked the faire as a pirate and met a lot of great people along the way. Nick did his music thing and started building guitars. We spent a lot of time with family, battled the weather with shovels, planned a wedding and moved home to LA to open a store.
I know I missed a lot of steps in there but it's alright, I'll get to it.
We found that, while building guitars, the sale process would be a bazillion times better if the potential customers could actually play them (hence wanting a store front). So 15 minutes after we said "I Do" and we're outside high-fiving and lighting up cigarettes, we got a call from Richie letting my flower girl Adam (our world class tattoo guy) know that he was out of a job since the shop we all went to closed while he was back east with us. We went into business mode and started planning a move to take over that location and get our friends their jobs back. Adam has been with us every step of the way (being superbestfriend and an amazing roommate and asset). While Richie (our barber) seems to have made it his mission to drive us insane with constant ambiguity and an even more horrendous ability to be punctual. He is amazing at his job, he truly is an awesome barber but his inability to be a team player is absolutely driving me mad. (more on that later since there is alway a new batch of bullshit that arises with that one).
ANYWAYS!
So that's how the shop started. Fast forward through the building, we found Devin, our hilarious piercer. Although slightly "hood" since he came straight from Cincinnati the day before he started, he is one of the funniest characters we have and we love the crap out of him. Gene Louis is another character we all couldn't live without. Another world class addition, when he's not driving around chickens, he's cracking-wise and mesmerizing the masses with his singing.
ENTER THE NASH CREW
Taber Nash has been on our side since the second we decided to add motorcycles into our shop repertoire. Taking time out of his busy schedule in Vancouver Washington, to guide us in the right direction. Now he and his family are moving down and taking over the back of our shop for services. Dragging in skateboard ramps, stand up video games, ye olde timey refrigerators, oh yeah and shop lifts and such (cause they'll be working). The past few days have been all about tearing holes in the walls, breaking down doors, drawing pictures of guys peeing in the shower, using all of my precious toilet paper and punching each other in the nuts. I truly can't wait for the garage to be open. No sarcasm, this shop is going to be rowdy as hell and I can't freakin' wait!!!!
Ok done
It's great start my day with your thoughts Misi :) I think this BLOG was a really good idea. It would be an awesome adventure inside your mind ;-) Ohh I remember all those cool faire pics :p Medieval Memories are a must lol Consider to take a time to talk about your tattoos and more about the shop ... I'm really curious about how the Cartel go through day to day life. Carpe Diem !!! Muahhhhh
